SEO stands for search engine optimization. As we all know, Google and the other major search engines rank sites based on their relevance to a specific query. This means that if you make a certain title, a link to the article, or a picture, it will rank a lot higher than if you put it in the wrong place, or make a mistake.
Well, we can’t really say what Google’s algorithm is looking for, but we can say that we try to make sure that our articles and pictures are relevant to the topic. We also try to get links from other relevant websites. But most of all, our goal is to put our own website on the first page of Google.
SEO is basically what Google is doing when it comes to determining what links to give out to you. It’s an amalgamation of factors, including how relevant your website is to the topic, the quality of the article and pictures that you place on your website, and the quality of the website in general. For example, our article about the “Greatest Living Astronomer” is a bit of a wildcard.
For our purposes, it doesn’t matter what the quality of our website is or whether our article is a wildcard. What matters is that it is relevant to the topic. In order to get into Google’s rankings, our article (assuming we have one) needs to be a decent read. And we don’t really care about the quality of the article. Google is basically telling our website, “Here’s your next link.
For our purposes, our article about the Greatest Living Astronomer is the only one in our website which is interesting to have in Google. The rest of our website is a bit of a mess.
We’re really not trying to get in Google’s rankings. We’re just trying to get in a place where we can show Google something that is relevant. I am not going to lie, we were surprised when our article was chosen as a “best-of” by Google. A lot of our articles have really good SEO, but we wanted to show Google something that was relevant so we thought “hey, this one is cool” so to speak.
We were not sure we were going to be able to show Google something that was relevant, so we weren’t sure if it would be helpful. But we were told it can help a lot in ranking (especially if you can link to it). We are also very, very glad that it was linked to us from the official article so that Google can see it too.
The short version is that we are using SEO to link to our articles, which is one of the most important factors in our ranking, and to get our articles ranked higher on Google. The long version is that if you need to use SEO to link to you articles, don’t do it without asking Google first.
