This Korean-American writer of Korean descent, Kim Min-Seo, is an accomplished author, journalist, and blogger. She is the founder of Asian American Writers Club, a nonprofit organization that serves as a resource for Asian-American writers and artists. I’m a big fan of Kim’s work. I’ve only recently started to pay attention to her because I read her column for the New York Review of Books (I don’t always agree with it, but I’m not the sort of guy who jumps on the latest Asian American blogosphere to start a fight).
Her new book, The Korean American Experience, is a fascinating look at her experience in America. I really like her take on immigration, and I think her writing is incredibly strong and informative. I am so glad that she is writing for a major publication. She really deserves to be recognized as a top Asian American writer.
I am not sure I agree with min-seo, but I am glad she is writing for a major publication. She was a bit too harsh when she told the Asian American students that they would most likely be the first group of Americans to experience the horrors of war. It’s just not true. People of Asian descent are less likely to be killed in wars and wars have not been fought with the same frequency as white Americans were in the Civil War.
Also, I love that min-seo is writing for a major publication. I’d also like to point out that I have no idea how to make that argument without sounding racist.
