Corporate or not, SEO is still a topic that we keep talking about often. Not too many people are aware of how SEO works and what it can do for them. The internet is a vast and often confusing place and there are many ways to make small changes and get it to rank well. I’ve been lucky enough to get a number of small jobs where I have personally gotten this small business started.
For a while SEO was thought to be a dirty word, but it is so much more than that. In fact, it’s a great way to get a website known in the eyes of Google, as you can have one of the more unique and unique websites without even trying. It also helps you develop a solid reputation as a trustworthy company; people will read about your company on search engines if they trust that you are doing the right thing.
SEO, short for search engine optimization, is the process of improving a site’s position on search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo by making it more visible in search engine results pages (SERPs). This is done by increasing a site’s number of relevant links to other sites on various search engines.
There are a ton of ways to go about the process of improving your site’s SEO score. You can start with a simple change like using a more relevant title, adding more keywords, or adding meta-tags that tell search engine bots where your content is from. It’s also important to make sure that your website is not just a mirror of your website to avoid appearing as spammy.

While a few SEO tips can go a long way in making your site more appealing for the search engines, the reality is that if you don’t put it in front of a real person, you may lose the chance to make a decent return. That’s why I always recommend putting your site in front of a real person who can comment and give you feedback.
Google is like the search engine for marketing and advertising. You need to make sure that your pages are on their first page for it to be effective. Of course, if your site is already in the top 10 or 15 pages of a search engine, this is meaningless. But if your site is only getting a fraction of the traffic that it could be getting, you may have problems.
I can’t count how many times I’ve seen someone else’s site get penalized for using SEO wrong. Most of the time this is because the owner didn’t know enough about SEO and didn’t put their site in front of people who could give them feedback. But it happens and it’s not always the first one. Google gives awards for “responsible” sites, but there are a lot of bad sites out there.
Like I said, SEO is just something you have to work on to get better (as well as be responsible for getting better). If you dont, your site will end up getting penalized because the SEO people have no idea what they’re talking about.
I have seen people who say they put their sites in front of bad sites but not others. My response is, “You mean I don’t know anything about SEO?” They dont, you dont. I know enough about SEO to know that a lot of the time it is the site that owns the site. This is where SEO comes into play. If you own the site, then you do know what youre doing.
