I have to tell you, I am not the only one who doesn’t pay much attention to what they are reading on Google. How many of you have clicked on a link and read nothing at all? Just another form of mindless reading.
Google’s Penguin algorithm is really bad at figuring this out, and they have been doing it for a while. The Penguin algorithm essentially says “Google, if you don’t get this link in the next 30 days, then you’ll never, ever see it again. What the hell, I’ll just read it instead, so screw you Google.
It’s a little unsettling to think about a company who wants to be as powerful as Google and try to use that power to stop users from reading what they’ve written. As a webmaster, you should be able to read most of what you write and use it to your advantage.
I don’t know about you but I don’t want to end up like the guy who wrote a blog about being a drug addict, or someone who just spent his entire life worrying about the next promotion or paycheck. The same goes for webmasters.
A lot of SEO companies will send out emails to their customers saying “We won’t share your personal information with anyone, including Google. We want you to be happy and to feel like you are in the best possible hands. Please do not ask us for anything else.
If I knew anyone who was so unhappy with their company’s results, I would be so pissed off that I would want to kick its ass. But I have to assume that most of these companies are either extremely good at their jobs or just really, really lazy.
I know I should just ask Google if I can. But I don’t have much choice because all my Google+ friends are all so pissed off that they told me that if I send them an email they won’t be able to see my profile.
In this case, the company’s results are a product of poor seo. The top-rated results are a bunch of random pages with the text “Search Engine Friendly” at the top, which means the pages are either poorly written, or they are not as well-engineered as they should be. For example, if you type “seo” in a Google search, the first result is a page with no results for “seo”.
Google sees this as a bad thing. They see the text Search Engine Friendly as a bad thing, because it means the pages are well-crafted. They see the text as an indicator that the page has been written properly and is good at what it does, not as an indicator that it’s written poorly or has been written poorly.
Google’s PageRank algorithm ranks pages according to how many backlinks they have. If a page is well-written and has only one, it will be shown as having backlinks. This means that the page is likely to be a good candidate for a link from someone who owns the domain. Google’s PageRank algorithm is still just a guess at how good a page is at what it does, but we can look at it as an indicator of whether a page has been well-written.
